Five steps on how to make reading easier for the lazy reader

So you can't find the time or you just rather turn on your television screen and watch a movie. Well, there is nothing that can bring you greater comfort and bring your imagination to life than getting lost in a good book. Don't have the money to travel or you have a small social circle? A book can give your mind the opportunity to travel around the world and fall in love with various characters.

Step 1📍

Find a book that appeals to a certain situation that you are facing in life. Start off with a book that is relatable. A book that perhaps will give you guidance to deal with a situation or to overcome a problem that you are facing.

Step 2 📍

Don't rush yourself. Take the time you need to get into the frame of my mind to become a lover of reading rather than having to force it. Start off reading a couple pages a day until you get yourself in the rhythm and before you know it you will develop the habit of reading.

Step 3📍

Form book clubs so that you will have others to encourage you along to make the process even more fun and to ensure that you don't fall off the path.

Step 4 📍
Be open to trying new things and be ready to expand your vocabulary. At first you may feel like you lack the knowledge and understanding for some books but instead if that being a turnoff it should be a motivation

Step 5📍

Seeing that everyone is into technology these days kindles are a good way for lazy readers to actually get up and get reading. Having a gadget in hand actually makes the reading experience somewhat more appealing for some readers.

In the month of August I decided to read books around my house that I never read before. I read five books during the time and felt more refreshed after and more knowledgable in how I dealt with people and life overall. I too often find myself being too lazy to get through a book especially of it isn't in my preferred area but by branching off and trying new things it has allowed me to be more comfortable in real life situations.

Get up! Get out! Read a book and let your imagination run wild

Church ministry without God

Have you ever been to a church service and when the singers are singing you feel nothing? You can hear the words coming out of their mouths but they have no  conviction whatsoever? Music is one of the most important parts of church ministry and if God isn't in it, it shouldn't be called Gospel music to begin with. Some singers in church sing for self! They know they are blessed with beautiful voices so they use the church to showcase it but it isn't about ministry. It is simply to let people know what they have going on. They stand before you and they have blank expressions on their faces, while they sing such powerful lyrics. They aren't moved by it but they somehow expect that the congregation will be. The next issue is that of the modern day Gospel music. Call me old fashion but it isn't my flavour at all. Why should I have to be wondering whether I'm listening to Gospel or I'm at a dancehall event? Why does the church have to change itself to resemb...

Be more thankful

It's so easy for us to complain it's like we do it everyday. Are we more thankful for the blessings we have no matter how small they seem? It seems to me that more than ever people are more ungrateful than they are grateful. No matter how bad things are always remember that they could be much worse. Our house isn't big so we complain rather than be thankful that we have a house. Our pay cheque is small so we complain rather than be thankful that we have a job. Our skin isn't flawless so we complain instead of be thankful that we still have our skin to protect our bodies. Our body isn't sculpted perfectly so we complain instead of being thankful that all our body parts are still functioning. Our world is very ungrateful and we can never seem to be satisfied no matter how many blessings we have. This week I ask of you to be thankful for something everyday no matter how small it may seem.

When shall the change come? Crime and violence ago continue and mash up Jamdung? Street lights come on at night and our window lids we shut tight tight No kids on the street, no time to meet and greet Why can't we no longer walk at nights? Why we don't have no peace? Police men guard the streets  Kids run quickly pass them not sure if they police or just undercover gunman and thief Thousands complete their university education but student loan awaits them in every gleaner publication Jamaica is such a beautiful nation, nice food and nuff happiness and sweet jubilation Wait a moment and turn the  TV off the international station Turn the dial to our local station No more happiness and sweet jubilation Blood flowing in the streets of poverty and ever increasing destruction You have the answers? Tell us how we need a change in politics Five years time and we still have the same corruption  You tell me to smile because better must come I ...
