Loving a black man that doesn't love me

Image source: Google Images His beautiful dark skin made rich from the earth, his physical strength supporting where I am physically weak, his beautiful smile and then the depth of his speech. In a world where the wrongs that he has done is spoken about more frequently than what is good about him. I see the beauty in black unions,I see the beauty in black souls connecting, I see beauty in being by his side. The issue is, he no longer sees beauty in me. We walk paths these days paved with the broken connections. Couples who once professed to be so deeply in love now pretend to not know each other. We walk paths  where you can pour the purest of love into the vessel of a man/woman and they remain empty. On one side, we have black men who believe that black women have lost their worth. They have lost the meaning of what it means to be a Queen. The black man believes that the black woman has wrapped herself in the labels that society has placed on her. The black woman is often vi

When a King finds his queen!

Image: Lovestruckcollection So you've been in a couple relationships and despite giving it your all you still end up on the failing end at the end of the day. What keeps going wrong? Why can't you seem to find the perfect partner for you? Are you just simply bad at choosing partners or are you just looking for the right things in the wrong place. You are looking for a woman who will support you and love you for who you are but you continually pursue women who have no depth. You seek out women who are openly obsessed with materialistic things and their looks but somehow you expect those women to be open to loving and investing in you? The truth is many times it isn't that we failed at a relationship it is that we continually give our all to people who don't even understand the meaning of sacrifice. We can't expect someone to appreciate the love we give them if they have no idea of the meaning of love itself because of their self obsession. When a King comes

Wear your natural crown

Growing up many of us were told that our natural crowns weren't beautiful. From a very young age many of us were told to idolize those deemed to have 'pretty hair'. When I speak about natural crown I don't speak about just our beautiful natural hair but our natural way of thinking. It is important to be proud of how we were naturally created by our maker but it is even more important to be proud of our natural way of thinking and to strive to not be corrupted by what society believes to be acceptable. I want to appeal to my young queens that they should never alter their souls to fit in with the norms of society. My queens, be proud of what makes you different and be proud of the natural you. Those who see the beauty in the natural you appreciate them and those that don't simply ignore them and continue on the natural path. We should never have to apologize or change how we were naturally created because we were created for that purpose and we are all naturally beau

What do you do to celebrate Black History Month?

It's February first and the start of Black History month. Please prepare yourself for the posts about being proud to be black and how appreciative they are for all the sacrifices our ancestors made. As a black person myself I rarely male reference to this month because I try to show my appreciation for my black people every day. I believe that as black people we should make an effort to show the love we have for our race everyday so that this month will not appear to be so much of a huge spectacle. Rather than creating a spectacle for a month and probably even just today only, because most will forget that this Black History month in the days to come. Let us write down something we are proud of as a black person for the 29 days of this month.

What does it mean to be black? (The Rachel Dolezal issue)

Perhaps you never heard of her before but now the whole world knows her name not for the work she did but because of the apparent lie that she told of being of black heritage. The attacks have been thrown her way from all corners but mostly from the black community. My first question however is how many attacks are thrown the way of those blacks who pretend to be white each and everyday? Do we frown upon them? Majority of us just simply ignore them. This lady loved the race so much she pretended to be apart of it to bring across change. Yes she lied, but let me see a show of hands for all the saints who have never lied about anything before? Let me see a show of hands for my fellow black people who don't adapt anything from the white community? This attack on Rachel shows that unity is even more just a dream more than ever. Many of the advocates for our freedom were white people, there were those who forgot about their white skin and helped in the fight would you still attack them
