The Priority List

Everybody is busy doing something or the other these days or so they claim. People always seem to find an excuse for something these days, either they are too tired, busy or they forgot. Is it that people are shouldering too many responsibilities or is time moving by at a very very fast pace. To keep our lives in order, we often make list of things to do, the duties that we have for the day, week, month and year. However, when making these lists, how many of us remember to put our loved ones at the very top of our list? One of the biggest problems facing relationships these days is lack of attention. Some might hear that and think that some people are too needy but attention is a very important component in friendships and relationships. A friend or a partner always wants to feel as if they are a priority in your life they don't want to have to compete every single day for a spot on your list of responsibilities.

Not only should we ensure that our loved ones are at the top of our lists we should also ensure that we put as much energy showing them that they are loved as we do with school or our jobs. It's not enough to just remember them it's better to show that you do enjoy spending time with them. The excuse of being busy should never be used when it relates to our loved ones because we could acquire all the material things in life and still have that emptiness that only their love could ever fill.

Each and everyday I implore you to get up and set a list of priorities that starts with showing your  loved ones how much you care about them. Make the time for things in life that matters the most.

Church ministry without God

Have you ever been to a church service and when the singers are singing you feel nothing? You can hear the words coming out of their mouths but they have no  conviction whatsoever? Music is one of the most important parts of church ministry and if God isn't in it, it shouldn't be called Gospel music to begin with. Some singers in church sing for self! They know they are blessed with beautiful voices so they use the church to showcase it but it isn't about ministry. It is simply to let people know what they have going on. They stand before you and they have blank expressions on their faces, while they sing such powerful lyrics. They aren't moved by it but they somehow expect that the congregation will be. The next issue is that of the modern day Gospel music. Call me old fashion but it isn't my flavour at all. Why should I have to be wondering whether I'm listening to Gospel or I'm at a dancehall event? Why does the church have to change itself to resemb...

Be more thankful

It's so easy for us to complain it's like we do it everyday. Are we more thankful for the blessings we have no matter how small they seem? It seems to me that more than ever people are more ungrateful than they are grateful. No matter how bad things are always remember that they could be much worse. Our house isn't big so we complain rather than be thankful that we have a house. Our pay cheque is small so we complain rather than be thankful that we have a job. Our skin isn't flawless so we complain instead of be thankful that we still have our skin to protect our bodies. Our body isn't sculpted perfectly so we complain instead of being thankful that all our body parts are still functioning. Our world is very ungrateful and we can never seem to be satisfied no matter how many blessings we have. This week I ask of you to be thankful for something everyday no matter how small it may seem.

The Jamaica of tomorrow

When shall the change come? Crime and violence ago continue and mash up Jamdung? Street lights come on at night and our window lids we shut tight tight No kids on the street, no time to meet and greet Why can't we no longer walk at nights? Why we don't have no peace? Police men guard the streets  Kids run quickly pass them not sure if they police or just undercover gunman and thief Thousands complete their university education but student loan awaits them in every gleaner publication Jamaica is such a beautiful nation, nice food and nuff happiness and sweet jubilation Wait a moment and turn the  TV off the international station Turn the dial to our local station No more happiness and sweet jubilation Blood flowing in the streets of poverty and ever increasing destruction You have the answers? Tell us how we need a change in politics Five years time and we still have the same corruption  You tell me to smile because better must come I ...
