The Death of Women

Beautiful skin, soft kisses she brings
A voice that can take the worse pain you feel far far from within
Didn't you have a mother as you grew up? or even a grandmother or sister that loving and protecting was a must
If anyone should stare at them too hard you would jump up and make them feel safe
Then who are the ones who slay the flesh of the young?
Who are  those who with death in their eyes part a young child's legs and watch the innocence die
Don't you remember when your mother would kiss you at nights?
Or made sure you had something to wear or eat
Even if you had no mother a woman's touch could do wonders

Respect has left the heart of men
Seems a woman is nothing more than another vessel to invade and conquer
Will it ever stop? The question lingers
Rape is the word that we hear ever so often
These men are weak but are the leaders of our country strong?
Silence they bring as if nothing is wrong
Change we seek but the leaders continue to sit, meet and greet
Men are supposed to protect, love and care for women
Instead, with one rape victim after the other protection turns into fear
Women are the victims but some sit and say nothing as their boyfriend or husband come home with  blood stains on their hands
They wash them off and nothing is felt
As those same hands they use after to tuck their children in bed

If we all keep silent, when will it end?
When you rob all the children of their innocence what will the future look like?
Leaders wake up and see that something needs to be done
The Land of wood and water is now a land flowing with innocent blood of our loved ones

Church ministry without God

Have you ever been to a church service and when the singers are singing you feel nothing? You can hear the words coming out of their mouths but they have no  conviction whatsoever? Music is one of the most important parts of church ministry and if God isn't in it, it shouldn't be called Gospel music to begin with. Some singers in church sing for self! They know they are blessed with beautiful voices so they use the church to showcase it but it isn't about ministry. It is simply to let people know what they have going on. They stand before you and they have blank expressions on their faces, while they sing such powerful lyrics. They aren't moved by it but they somehow expect that the congregation will be. The next issue is that of the modern day Gospel music. Call me old fashion but it isn't my flavour at all. Why should I have to be wondering whether I'm listening to Gospel or I'm at a dancehall event? Why does the church have to change itself to resemb...

Be more thankful

It's so easy for us to complain it's like we do it everyday. Are we more thankful for the blessings we have no matter how small they seem? It seems to me that more than ever people are more ungrateful than they are grateful. No matter how bad things are always remember that they could be much worse. Our house isn't big so we complain rather than be thankful that we have a house. Our pay cheque is small so we complain rather than be thankful that we have a job. Our skin isn't flawless so we complain instead of be thankful that we still have our skin to protect our bodies. Our body isn't sculpted perfectly so we complain instead of being thankful that all our body parts are still functioning. Our world is very ungrateful and we can never seem to be satisfied no matter how many blessings we have. This week I ask of you to be thankful for something everyday no matter how small it may seem.

When shall the change come? Crime and violence ago continue and mash up Jamdung? Street lights come on at night and our window lids we shut tight tight No kids on the street, no time to meet and greet Why can't we no longer walk at nights? Why we don't have no peace? Police men guard the streets  Kids run quickly pass them not sure if they police or just undercover gunman and thief Thousands complete their university education but student loan awaits them in every gleaner publication Jamaica is such a beautiful nation, nice food and nuff happiness and sweet jubilation Wait a moment and turn the  TV off the international station Turn the dial to our local station No more happiness and sweet jubilation Blood flowing in the streets of poverty and ever increasing destruction You have the answers? Tell us how we need a change in politics Five years time and we still have the same corruption  You tell me to smile because better must come I ...
