Police unstable???

I'm one of the few young people who ensures that I watch the news every night both at 7pm and 8pm unlike the prime minister who says she doesn't watch the news. Well I don't have people to tell me what exactly takes place and I rather to get the information straight from the horses mouth. Now, something troubled me while watching the news recently. I was informed that there have been 18 police killings since the start of the new year. New year-same stories from the officers, shoot out here there and everywhere. Now call me stupid or not but why would a single man decide to take on three or four police men with one single gun? and why would trained police man feel threatened by one man so much so that they can't restrain him but have to kill him. That shows a lack of proper training in all areas on the part of the police men. When it comes to police men killing the homeless that to me is taking things a bit too far. One man confronted three police men and you are telling me that all they could do was kill this man not even to shoot him in his foot or something. Have we the law abiding citizens of Jamaica done something to place the police officers on a prickly edge towards us? I remember one night while walking on the road coming from school around 9pm a female officer stopped me to say "Come off the road if I don't see is night now and I must go my yard", is that how they are trained to talk to those they serve? People have become so fearful of police that they would never ever dare to ask them a question in fear that they would take offence and snap at them. I believe that communication skills need to be taught to these officers before they are allowed to go on the road. As soon as they are handed a gun it seems that many of them lose all their human senses and become like wild animals looking for someone to slaughter.

TVJ Schools' Challenge Quiz Prizes

The buzzer ignited the excitement in my veins for many years. I grew up watching TVJ Schools' Challenge Quiz and I saw it as a means of once again unifying the nation through friendly rivalry. As the years rolled by things started to change and the blatant favouritism could be seen coming from our television screens. The power of some of the more prominent high schools would allow them to end up in the winning circle. Apart from the fun element turning into some what of a war each year, what has changed drastically is the awarding of the various prizes at the end. Throughout the years we could expect to see students from some of the participating schools coming forward to collect their various prizes at the end of the competition. We looked forward to hearing what the students would be awarded for their hard workout throughout the season. Apparently, this was deemed to be too much of a problem to broadcast so it was eliminated completely. All we see now is the winner collecti

This World

A world where people don't love you if you can't supply them with all the material things they need. A world where people marry just to get citizenship in a country. A world where the most educated aren't the ones given the best of jobs. A world where the television and internet are left to teach our children values. A world where the leaders of the church spend more money on church buildings tha n feeding the poor. A world where children receive guns before they receive a book to read. A world where in one half of the world people fight for an apple to eat while in the other we pick, choose and refuse what to eat. A world where we cry when we have no new clothes or shoes but some have never felt the warmth of a shirt and pants on their cold flesh. A world where politicians get increases in pay while the citizens are placed on wage freeze for years. A world where everybody proclaims they can't trust anybody. A world where girls value are always occupied with their look
