My first trip to Negril

For years I wanted to visit Negril. I'm a lover of nature and I especially enjoy discovering new sites in my country and learning about the history of my beautiful island. I boarded the Knutsford Express from New Kingston. My journey took me across the North Coast High Way for the very first time. My first stop was in Ocho Rios as the bus stopped to unload and load passengers. Firstly, I must point out that the comfort on the Knutsford Express is simply amazing. My next stop was in the beautiful parish of Trelawny and although it was a short stop I did get to take in some of the spectacular views. The next stop was that of Montego Bay before it was finally time to head on to my final destination in Negril.  The view along the way reminded me of just how naturally beautiful Jamaica is. The calmness of the sea and the lush vegetation brings a peace that can't be found in anything else, I simply rested my head and got lost in the beauty that is Jamaica.

I would be staying at Doc's Place which though small was very inviting, quiet and beautiful. The staff was very friendly and respectful to put it simply I felt at home. The water surrounding the property was clean and very alluring. I couldn't wait to take a dip and that's exactly what I did. I thought the days were spectacular but when that sun set the stillness of the sea brought me an even greater peace. Staying at Doc's Place is not only affordable but you are in  very close proximity to the town so you don't have to feel too secluded. I would encourage each and everyone even if you are just a dry land tourist like myself to visit Negril.

On a closing note however I must point out how the prices at Burger King in Negril differ drastically from those in the corporate area that really turned my head.

TVJ Schools' Challenge Quiz Prizes

The buzzer ignited the excitement in my veins for many years. I grew up watching TVJ Schools' Challenge Quiz and I saw it as a means of once again unifying the nation through friendly rivalry. As the years rolled by things started to change and the blatant favouritism could be seen coming from our television screens. The power of some of the more prominent high schools would allow them to end up in the winning circle. Apart from the fun element turning into some what of a war each year, what has changed drastically is the awarding of the various prizes at the end. Throughout the years we could expect to see students from some of the participating schools coming forward to collect their various prizes at the end of the competition. We looked forward to hearing what the students would be awarded for their hard workout throughout the season. Apparently, this was deemed to be too much of a problem to broadcast so it was eliminated completely. All we see now is the winner collecti

This World

A world where people don't love you if you can't supply them with all the material things they need. A world where people marry just to get citizenship in a country. A world where the most educated aren't the ones given the best of jobs. A world where the television and internet are left to teach our children values. A world where the leaders of the church spend more money on church buildings tha n feeding the poor. A world where children receive guns before they receive a book to read. A world where in one half of the world people fight for an apple to eat while in the other we pick, choose and refuse what to eat. A world where we cry when we have no new clothes or shoes but some have never felt the warmth of a shirt and pants on their cold flesh. A world where politicians get increases in pay while the citizens are placed on wage freeze for years. A world where everybody proclaims they can't trust anybody. A world where girls value are always occupied with their look
