My Wish for Jamaica

Firstly, what a blessing it is to live in a country where we still are afforded many privileges. When I look around I don't have to look far to find something to smile about in Jamaica on the other hand however I don't have to look far either to find something to be sad about. The source of a Jamaica's many problems stems from selfishness. Selfishness from politicians, children, old people, teachers, pastors, selfishness can be found all over the island. When I enter a taxi I always pause to say good morning or good afternoon and am often met with strange stares as if I have done something wrong. People have sent me messages saying I bash my nation too much, really? Even when I address the negativity I always highlight the positivity. I want a change in my nation therefore I will make known the wrongs that I see taking place.

Parents, the bible speaks to training up a child well when he is young and when he is old he will not depart from it yes that is true. But honestly I have seen many parents who have instilled the best values in their children and they have deviated from that path. Before we jump up ready to blame parents for the wrongs we see on a daily basis by young men and women in society you should take a
look at the mindset of the child themselves.

Politicians, when you realize that it takes more than just a 500 or 1000 to bring a change to a community or a once a year visit to remind people that you represent them. Investments need to be made all across Jamaica people need something to do and yes opportunities are around and some refuse to grasp them but that's ok let them be we can't force everyone to want to make a difference in their lives.

Children, are so quick to become adults these days but then again what can we expect when parents put false hair in their children hair, place makeup on their faces, put them in high heels and buy them the most expensive gadgets. Don't use your child as an accessory to show off to your friends them turn around later on and complain that your child is too materialistic and have no manners.

Jamaica can be changed I believe it with all my heart but selfishness needs to leave the hearts of men

Church ministry without God

Have you ever been to a church service and when the singers are singing you feel nothing? You can hear the words coming out of their mouths but they have no  conviction whatsoever? Music is one of the most important parts of church ministry and if God isn't in it, it shouldn't be called Gospel music to begin with. Some singers in church sing for self! They know they are blessed with beautiful voices so they use the church to showcase it but it isn't about ministry. It is simply to let people know what they have going on. They stand before you and they have blank expressions on their faces, while they sing such powerful lyrics. They aren't moved by it but they somehow expect that the congregation will be. The next issue is that of the modern day Gospel music. Call me old fashion but it isn't my flavour at all. Why should I have to be wondering whether I'm listening to Gospel or I'm at a dancehall event? Why does the church have to change itself to resemb...

Loving a black man that doesn't love me

Image source: Google Images His beautiful dark skin made rich from the earth, his physical strength supporting where I am physically weak, his beautiful smile and then the depth of his speech. In a world where the wrongs that he has done is spoken about more frequently than what is good about him. I see the beauty in black unions,I see the beauty in black souls connecting, I see beauty in being by his side. The issue is, he no longer sees beauty in me. We walk paths these days paved with the broken connections. Couples who once professed to be so deeply in love now pretend to not know each other. We walk paths  where you can pour the purest of love into the vessel of a man/woman and they remain empty. On one side, we have black men who believe that black women have lost their worth. They have lost the meaning of what it means to be a Queen. The black man believes that the black woman has wrapped herself in the labels that society has placed on her. The black woman is ofte...
