Little girls living big woman lifestyle

I'm sure I don't stand alone on the topic of girls being dressed in skimpy outfits and their undeveloped features heavily adorned with makeup. Why would a parent feel as if this type of behaviour is acceptable? Yes, you make the decisions in regards to your children but however we are the ones who have to deal with your ill mannered children at the end of the day. Doesn't something stick you when you and your 9 year old daughter are using the same hair products and putting on the same brand makeup? Often times it's these children who grow up to tell stories of being robbed of their childhood or grow up to be self absorbed.  Parents, the activities that you allow your children to engage in today will help to shape their future. Why is there a rush to push your child to grow up and then when they do wish you could turn back the clock and get your child back.

The blind, deaf and dumb leaders of Jamaica

Firstly, let me point out that I am in no way making a mockery of the blind, deaf and dumb community of Jamaica. What I am strongly addressing at the moment is the state of  present day Jamaica and how I currently feel about those who I have to depend on to make the best decisions for us the people. Our leaders do listen to the people but only when election time is approaching, when election comes and goes they become blinded to the tears of the people.   Have you ever stop to look at the posture of the leaders of other countries when they sit to discuss the affairs if their nation? They are upright, they are bold and confident. Take a look at the leaders of our country when they are making decisions, they argue about whose parts compared to whose parts, they sleep, they chew bubble gum they are as far as possible from the idea of professionalism. I will forever remember when the Prime minister  stated that she doesn't watch the news because she doesn't want to

Out with the OLD in with the NEW

The new school year is here and students are walking the streets in their new uniforms and new shoes. So much promise in their eyes, but for how long? Recently, I was taking a look at all the ministers and leaders of Jamaica. There are thousands of students who graduate each year with degrees related to politics who leave ready and willing to become a part of the politics arena. However, there is a huge problem which is the fact that our current leaders are getting old and unable to do many of things they used to. Why aren't these leaders stepping aside to give the young people of our nation an opportunity to share their opinions and give back to their nation? Power is a hell of a thing and people will take it to the grave with them just to ensure that they leave in a high position. When they retire our leaders are expected to live in comfort as they receive a good amount of funds to take care of their needs. After a period of years I believe that they should be asked to leave

Are you living?

Are you enjoying the life you are living? When you wake in the morning are you happy with the current state you are in? The accomplishments you have are they for you or for those around you? What gives you joy? What makes you smile? Is it the money in your pocket or the hearts you have touched by the things you do? Is life just about getting by? Or is it about making a difference? Think about it and please don't lie  Are you happy with the life you live or are you still asking why? Why are you here? Why have I chosen this path? You can accumulate all the wealth and still have a deep void within Think long and hard and ask yourself am I living for me or for those around me? Are your parents telling you how to live your life and you are no longer a child? Don't get me wrong we all need guidance and a helping hand However, at the end of the day you will have to live with the decisions you have made  Will you be happy with those decisions then?  Ar

I cry for my nation

So many things are on my mind as I write this and I just have to share them with you. I am concerned about the future of Jamaica. My blog is entitled The Voice of Jamaica and I will continue to share my opinions about my nation. When I journey into Kingston each day from Spanish Town I often take in my surroundings and evaluate people and buildings. Factories standing firm  but empty, lack of activity, while homeless people turn them into shelter. What if these factories were back up and operation?instead of these homeless people using it as a place to sleep at night they could use it as a source to generate an income and build a home of their own. It's that time of year when graduation pictures start to surface and everybody is so proud of their achievements. However, on the back of these beautifully framed images are a list of debts that these young minds will have to pay before their names are placed in the gleaner and on social media sites. So much time is spent  on sellin

Mothers Day by Saccheen Laing

Mother's Day Who was the one to hold you when your little feet couldn't go on? Who was the one to correct you when you were doing wrong? Where would we be without her? The one to show us the right path? How much more diffic ult would life be without the wisdom she shares to you and me? Who can love you like a mother can? Who can place a simple kiss on your aching hand and make it like new brand? Who can? No one can like a mother Our nation is blessed because of the love she bestows God has blessed her to open our eyes when they are closed God has blessed her to provide bread and butter when the gas is nowhere to be found Who never let you go hungry? Who made sure you had shelter from the storm? Who but a mother? Her forgiving spirit is like no other Just think back to Hannah in the bible Such pure dedication and faith That's how strong a mothers heart can go on hoping and hoping for their little one One faithful prayer from a mother has saved thousands of sinful sou

The Jamaica of tomorrow

When shall the change come? Crime and violence ago continue and mash up Jamdung? Street lights come on at night and our window lids we shut tight tight No kids on the street, no time to meet and greet Why can't we no longer walk at nights? Why we don't have no peace? Police men guard the streets  Kids run quickly pass them not sure if they police or just undercover gunman and thief Thousands complete their university education but student loan awaits them in every gleaner publication Jamaica is such a beautiful nation, nice food and nuff happiness and sweet jubilation Wait a moment and turn the  TV off the international station Turn the dial to our local station No more happiness and sweet jubilation Blood flowing in the streets of poverty and ever increasing destruction You have the answers? Tell us how we need a change in politics Five years time and we still have the same corruption  You tell me to smile because better must come I can
