The Death of Women

Beautiful skin, soft kisses she brings A voice that can take the worse pain you feel far far from within Didn't you have a mother as you grew up? or even a grandmother or sister that loving and protecting was a must If anyone should stare at them too hard you would jump up and make them feel safe Then who are the ones who slay the flesh of the young? Who are  those who with death in their eyes part a young child's legs and watch the innocence die Don't you remember when your mother would kiss you at nights? Or made sure you had something to wear or eat  Even if you had no mother a woman's touch could do wonders Respect has left the heart of men Seems a woman is nothing more than another vessel to invade and conquer Will it ever stop? The question lingers Rape is the word that we hear ever so often These men are weak but are the leaders of our country strong? Silence they bring as if nothing is wrong Change we seek but the leaders c

The Saviour has come

The ‘Savior’has come It’s been on the lips for months and months now the ‘Saviour’ has come Long meetings, budgets tabled and now the time has come The government flashes bright smiles as they read out the judgment The crime will stop? The unemployment will stop? The corruption will stop? No Then why should we return smiles because the ‘Saviour’ has come The student loan still has no money People can’t afford to provide for their families But they tell us to be happy because the ‘Saviour’ has come The government expects us to believe that better will comes from the ‘Saviour’ come Politicians seated with legs crossed in parliament waiting on the “Saviour’ to come Now that the ‘Saviour has come will all our problems disappear? The ‘Saviour’has come but light bill is still high Everything is still taxed Salary remains the same And we continue to wait for the ‘Saviour’ to work The government has placed all its eggs in one basket They both down  to the ‘Savio

You aren't an empress

It's really nice to see many Jamaican ladies going back to their natural roots these days I applaud them. However I've come to notice that many of them I starting to feel high and mighty as if going 'natural' somehow makes them above others. Let me kindly enlighten your darkness if you live a life that doesn't embody one of purity and one that is different from the rest of the way of the world you are no empress. Simply getting your hair locked or wearing it unprocessed has nothing to do with the kind of lifestyle you live, who you are comes across in how you interact with people on a daily basis. If  you wan't to proudly be called an empress I believe your actions should reflect that.

True Jamaican Beauty

The wind lifts her feet revealing the inner components of her beautiful physique A body so toned and smooth the heavens declare her beauty is unmatched, in a class of her own The sun hits the well defined structures of her face with eyes so bright she leaves you yearning for a taste A taste of her skin , her lips her breasts a taste of happiness, a Jamaican woman at her greatest She has dark skin, long straight hair she walks with such surety  she is a Jamaican beauty Mixed with different races she embodies the nation 'Out of Many one People' She wears it on her blouse, she wears it on her heart She's yet to speak but you've fallen in love with just one glimpse, One glimpse of her face, one glimpse of her frame She is a Jamaican beauty, you don't know her story, you don't know her name Just one look at her body rocking from side to side to the rhythm of the reggae sound She still hasn't said a word but her body reveals her inner thoughts

'The Dark Ages of Jamaica'

This morning I was just sitting on my veranda and listening to people around me and observing people as they went about their daily activities. In times pass you would smell the pots early Sunday morning and knew that Sunday dinner was being prepared, the traditional rice and peas that is expected in Jamaican homes. However this morning I saw around five individuals passing with box foods. The times have come in Jamaica when people can no longer afford to prepare a home cook meal as they would wish to or the fact that some individuals have to extend their work week to make ends meet. In the evenings children would wait patiently for the ice cream man to come to indulge themselves in some ice cream those times are also things of the past  as majority of parents can't find the money to give their children to buy any ice cream. Stop someone you see on the road walking and ask them  how are you doing the most familiar response will be, times hard man can hardly make it.   Yes

The Youths of Today

Well its back in the news again and cries are being echoed for something to be done about the increase in acts of violence among our children. Wonder how long this topic will be relevant or how long it will be on the minds of us Jamaicans. Well I have been talking about this issue for a longtime and I will continue to do so. Some will say that even when a parents grows up their child in a certain way when they send them out into the world all forms of influence will come at them and there is nothing they can do about it as a parent. So I ask then who should be held responsible for these acts of violence committed by children? Cries are ringing out that teachers should be responsible and that the churches should be held responsible. My solution to this problem is that each and everyone of us as Jamaicans should be held responsible. We need to conduct ourselves in ways that our children will adapt good behaviour starting from the Prime Minister to the average citizen. If each and eve

Are Jamaicans too soft?

Are Jamaicans still about action, or have we become silent? Our nation is faced with many  problems and indeed we voice our disgust my blocking roads and calling our for justice. Is that enough? It doesn't seem to be as we still have the same problems that we do. When the government imposes new taxes or transportation costs are increased we complain for a day or two then we accept the measures implemented. Are we too soft as a people?  In my opinion I would say yes  the government needs to realize that they can't do as they please after all we area democratic nation for a reason. Other nations around the world have simply become frustrated with how their leaders are representing them and have stood up and are still standing up until something is done. We emulate so much from other nations especially America then why don't we join them in voicing more strongly the issues we have with our leadership.I believe that some of us don't seem to realize that we are more in
